Edible Alien Theatre

produces one-of-a-kind events combining fabulous food and performance art to help usher people into a greater enjoyment of both.

We are a group of artists and chefs who create an altered environment and invite guests to enter another world, leaving their old selves behind.  We use found objects, cardboard, paint and paper mache to explore forms of ritual theater, guerrilla art, performance, and whatever else that might spark and interest.

Since 2001 we have produced eight edible shows.   As all-volunteer fund raisers, the first six were for Live on Winnebago, a street festival of days gone by.  The seventh was a fundraiser to build a permanent shelter for the local Farmer’s Market, and proceeds of the eighth show went to both the Driftless Artist Collective (DArtCo.) and towards the development of this site.

We are the cooks…

musicians, dancers, puppeteers and artists gathered in the kitchen to present our favorite recipes at the banquet of life.  We are lovers of creative revelation rooted in tradition and experimentation.

You are our dinner guests…

invited to taste our performances; flavors that reminisce of your familiar past.  Then awaken to the surprises of exploration—spicy adventures to the far east, the deep south, the frozen north, the wild west, and the outer reaches of fantasy…

Welcome to a world where food is reintroduced as a thread in the fabric of your reality.  Let it reconstruct you into that which you want to be.

“Haven’t you noticed that food all by itself is really boring to read about?  It’s everything around the food that makes it interesting: the sociology, the politics, the history.”

~Ruth Reichl (Comfort Me with Apples)
