MUD

MUD…and Chocolate…

.

“Research tells us that fourteen out of any ten individuals like chocolate.”

Any excuse to buy a 6.6 pound block of Valrhona 70% dark chocolate and see what happens.

.

We were fortunate to be invited into South Bear School, the original Ausie Haugen elder home and a place that must be seen to be believed.

Turn of the (other) century

Gothic architecture with

dusty echoes of many lives

in its three stories of

hallways and bedrooms;

it is now inhabited by artists Dean and Geri Schwarz and their incredible collection of art and pottery from around the world and from all times.

.

CLAY, CHOCOLATE, and the ART-In-TRANSITION of Andy Goldsworthy

were major influences of this piece.

Each piece evolved throughout the night in different locations.

No one would see the event in its entirety (including us),

but instead would catch glimpses of elements

moving and shifting—

or the imprints left behind—

and could only guess at the whole.

Once again the crew of Edible Alien Theatre invites you to an evening of eatables and explorations.  Let us tickle your senses and your appetites in this night of Mud, Elements and Chocolate.  Experience art in transit, fleeting and disintegrating, while you wander through the world of South Bear School and the galleries of Dean and Geri Schwarz.

From the elements of earth and water we are formed and yet we are but passing shadows.  Will the fires forge our earthen selves into vessels to carry forth the life spirit?

Empty yourself

Wash clear in the melt of snow

Touch the ground

This soil is soul

Taste the bitter darkness

Mix it in your blood

Spin to your center

And the inner motion becomes

your outer shape

Step into the color of hot breath

Reach out to the roaring wind

The wanton droplets evaporate

The flames of pride die down

You are singed and solid

So dream the here and now

For what will be, is

The spicy burn

And the sweet salve

remain
